As wildfire mentioned. FA has to pay a third party service to have DDoS protection. but even then it's not fool proof. someone who's particularly determined could figure a way to bypass it and spam the site with DDoS attacks even with the service protection.
Like imagine paying for a VPN, yet despite that, someone hacks your stuff any way despite the service you're paying for doing what it can to protect you. It's not about the site configuring itself.
